A moon later, an eerie chill in the night air greeted some unexpected visitors as they set foot into the forest. Creatures shied away in terror as they marched through the quiet forest. Some had sleek coats, while others matted and shaggy. They were of different sizes and stood at various heights, but all of a strong build. Their coats and fangs were stained with dried blood, powerful muscles rippled beneath their fur. At the head of the pack stood a stout wolf that had long sleek legs and a distinct crimson coat with markings of flames that licked its entire back right down to its tail. This eye-catching coat made it stand out from the rest even when dimmed by the shadow of the night. The bloodthirsty wolves trampled over the terrain as they slowly made their way towards the pack, upon the cliff where it overlooked the rushing river below. With each dreadful step they took, they got closer to the pack. The moonlight shone brighter through the thinning canopy as the forest floor slowly turned to rocky grounds. In the beautiful lush green forest of the Raye Mountains, where the clear stream ran through the dense growth of ancient trees, birds sang their sweet melodious songs on its thick boughs. Furry little squirrels scampered out from their holes in search of food. Herds of white tailed deer pranced around the meadows, grazing on juicy blades of grass. This place was the home of the many wolf packs that lived in this sanctuary. Labels: ito wolves, second tale
Once again, hunters’ season came. But this time, the hunters weren’t humans, not at all. They killed more than usual, neither did they retrieve the dead game. The hunt gradually filled the peaceful forest with a thick mist of death. The ground was soaked a deep red with its residents’ blood, littered with countless mauled or rotting carcasses all around. The terrible cries of the hunted and the bloodthirsty cry of the hunters echoed through the dark night. From then on, hell began…

A loud snapping sound rang out against the silence, again; the colt became still and unmoving. The herd members shuddered. Some turned their sad faces away, while others kept their sights on the dead colt and the queen. No one dared to move an inch, they just stood there, waiting...watching. Just another ever repeating scene like others before it, things like this were quite common if anyone angers the black queen.
Misty vapour puffed out as the queen flared her nostrils. With a toss of her head, she sent her black mane flying behind her slender neck. Her dangerous violet gaze scanned the herd, as if daring any to act and rebel. None did, except for a couple of sad whines heard here and there. Satisfied, she stomped her fore hoof, doubled back the way she came and strode on...leaving the carcass in her wake.

The queen picked her way across the clearing, calculating every footfall with precision, portraying an image of power and dignity. Her shiny black mane danced with the wind, flowing gently by her side. Deep violet eyes that seemed so cold, struck fear into her loyal subordinates. A cloud of dust kicked up bits of twigs and sand that littered her glossy ebony coat. She held her long pointed ears high, sensitive and alert as she made her rounds.
Crossing a gnarled stump of oak that marked the camp, she cut straight through the herd. Members of the herd, both the young and old; mares and stallions alike, quickly cleared the way for their herd leader to pass. Trembling with fear, they lowered their heads while the black queen passed by. Not daring to meet her chilling gaze, they fixed their sights to the ground.
The last of the stragglers were still scrambling away from the path of the leader. However, a poor young colt failed to clear the way and stumbled over its skinny legs. The ruthless mare looked down upon the colt with an irritated snort and reared up on her hind legs. The little colt squealed in horror and froze on the spot while the queen came bearing down upon him......
